At Modern Industries, our special processes for machining and high-quality heat-treating services are designed to modify the structure of metals and metal alloys to imbue them with characteristics like increased temperature resistance, increased hardness, increased ductility, and increased strength. Heat treating is often considered an essential aspect of metal fabrication in general, but Modern Industries strives to take it a step further with additional special processes for machining that can be used to complement your heat treating needs and providecomprehensive solutions that result in precision, accuracy, and durability.

Modern Industries offers a variety of special processes to fit or complement your heat-treating needs. Our special processes include, but are NOT limited to:Car Bottom with Operator 1

Car Bottom Furnace

We offer a car bottom furnace that is useful for loading and unloading heavy and large items without having to worry about damaging the interior of the furnace or the items themselves. With our car bottom furnace process, we can offer annealing, normalizing, and stress-relieving services. Our car bottom furnace is 8′ W x 6′ H x 12′ L in size, offers a 30,000-pound load capacity, and features a temperature range of 400°F to 1,800°F that is suitable for the vast majority of heat-treating projects.

Cryogenics and Deep Freezing

Our cryogenics and deep freezing services can help create strong and durable metal materials and components as an extension of standard heat treatment finishing. With our advanced technology, we can use cryogenic treatment to gradually decrease metal temperature to -300°F over several days. Our deep freezing services are frequently utilized to stabilize materials and reach temperatures around -120°F for a shorter time to refine molecular grain structure and meet ISO-9001:2015, IATF-16949:2016, and NADCAP compliance.

Sand and Shot Blasting

Modern Industries also offers shot blasting and sandblasting as a finishing process to complement heat treatment by shaping, stripping, and smoothing surfaces. Our sandblasting services use compressed air to propel a fine-grain abrasive material at a workpiece to clear the part of any debris, dirt, grease, and anything else that may compromise the exterior finish or the effectiveness of supplemental finishing procedures like plating or powder-coating. Shot blasting works similarly, but we propel the material with centrifugal force, which is much more aggressive. This is particularly useful for objects that are difficult to prepare, larger, and denser to warrant a strong application force.
