Assembly and Contract Manufacturing

Modern Industries Precision Machining & Assembly Division has prepared fabrications and assemblies for customers across a broad range of industries. Using our capabilities to prepare finished assemblies provides our customers with the ability to instantly expand production output without the need to hire or invest in added facilities.

Production Planning and Inventory Control

Modern Industries has had an ERP System for many years and it was last updated in 2012. We use the Vantage ERP/MRP System, which is considered the best system to integrate with customer’s supply chain and inventory management.

Modern Industries is a large contract machining and assembly facility located in Erie, Pennsylvania, and customers who work with our team can expect to receive engineering expertise, trusted quality, and rapid delivery on projects that require diverse materials for machining. In our decades of experience, we have worked with a wide range of materials through a multitude of machining processes among our divisions. Our expert knowledge of these various materials allows our team to maintain precision quality control among our machining services and meet stringent and unique industry specifications.

Our Diverse Material Experience

Modern Industries possesses extensive experience machining the following materials:

ALUMINUM

Aluminum is among the most widely used CNC milling materials in the world. It can be machined quickly and accurately thanks to its lightweight and non-magnetic properties. Additionally, aluminum is inherently corrosion-resistant and a relatively inexpensive material for machining across countless industries. These beneficial factors make aluminum the leading choice for aircraft components in addition to the automotive and consumer goods industries.

  • 2024 aluminum
  • 6061 aluminum
  • 7075 aluminum
  • Aluminum bronze

CASTINGS & FORGINGS

Modern Industries’ castings & forgings requests can be completed with a wide range of different materials to produce components that meet strict industry requirements for durability, resistance, and performance. If you are unsure which of these materials best suits your needs, our experienced team will work with you to find the right material for your unique casting and forging requirements.

  • Gray iron
  • Ductile iron
  • Ductile iron – NiResist
  • Aluminum, all types
  • Various steels
  • Stainless steel
  • Forged steels
  • Forged stainless steels
  • Cast aluminum, all grades

STEEL

The strength and durability of steel make it ideal for high-stress applications especially when high-carbon steel variants are utilized. For projects that require enhanced formability and weldability, similar to the demands for rivets and strong part welds, low-carbon steel would be the ideal choice. Whatever your steel machining needs are, our machine shop has experience working with a wide range of steel materials, especially in turned products.

  • 1018 steel
  • 1045 steel
  • 1144 steel
  • 4140 steel

  • 9310 steel
  • A36 steel
  • 52100 steel
  • M50 steel
  • Tool Steels: H13, S7, D2, O1, A2, M2

STAINLESS STEEL

Stainless steel is most widely known for being impervious to rust and most stains, but our machining services help customers take advantage of its strength and corrosion resistance too. These properties make it prevalent in the electronics and medical equipment industries. Modern Industries has extensive experience in a considerable range of stainless steel materials for machining including the variants listed below:

  • 15-5 PH stainless steel
  • 17-4 PH stainless steel
  • 302 stainless steel
